Carso is a rugged and rocky strip of land bordering Slovenia in Friuli, Northern Italy. There is a very longstanding tradition here of producing skin-macerated (aka orange) wines and Vitovska is a variety native to the region. The wine is a hazy golden colour and the palate is very fine with apricot and citrus fruit, a prickle of textural tannin and a backbone of acidity and minerality. Very good indeed.
