The wines of Herve Souhaut are marked by great finesse, length and also sheer drinkability. The vines for the Souteronne cuvée are 60-80 years old. Gamay on granitic soil does bring a Beujolaisesque quality but there is also the darker fruit and savoury character you might associate with Syrah from the area. An utter delight.
