26th April 2026 Goodies turns two and Hamblin joins the party

Good afternoon dear readers,

We are delighted to announce that for the third year in a row we have the honour of collaborating with the wonderful Goodies on their annual party. Without further ado, here are the need-to-knows:

What: Goodies Two Year Anniversary Party

When: Saturday 2 May, 6PM—late

Where: Goodies and Hamblin Bread, The Covered Market

Eat and drink: Bar in Hamblin Bread serving natural wine, beer and soft drinks. A free panino when you buy a drink for the first 50 punters.

It all started back in the early days of Hamblin, when we were operating as a cafe and shop. Matt and Rachael, the founders of Goodies, became regulars. Hugo was immediately taken with their impeccable taste and dry humour. Once they made the move from the midlands and settled in OX4, it wasn't long before a fast friendship was born, sustained with coffee, baked goods, orange wine, style tips and the sheer love of a good natter. Since becoming our neighbours in the Covered Market and opening their peerless clothing shop, it's fair to say the mutual love and respect has only grown. We keep Matt and Rach fed and watered and in return their door is always open. For Hugo, no trip to town is complete without stopping by to shoot the breeze, share the highs and lows of Covered Market life, try on some clobber, and soak up the vibes of the community they have created on Avenue Two. All of which is to say we're really looking forward to Saturday night. We're doing a special run of our super soft milk rolls in a mini panino format and making elegant little sandwiches featuring house cooked salt beef and pickles, Andrea's pork collar ham, and spicy aubergine with labneh. The fridges will be stocked with Kernel beer and some choice bottles. Maddie, Kat and Hugo will be on the bar, Matt and Rachael will be holding court in Goodies, and there are rumours that our old friend Zoltan is making another tiramisu. All in all, an evening not to be missed. Hope to se you there.

That's all for this week. Thank you for reading and enjoy the rest of your Sunday,

Kate and Hugo
