Good afternoon everybody,
A return to email duty for Hugo after Harriet's sterling work over the past few weeks. In the Hamblin household we welcomed baby Delia on the 2nd of July, and whilst Kate is taking a more than well earned break from the bakery, Hugo is easing his way back in, starting this coming Sunday with the last pizza night of the (school) year. You can order here. If you have been missing the Hamblin wine nights, Hugo is also running a mini tasting as part of Sunday's pizza night. There are just 6 tickets available, price includes a pizza and all the (natural) wine you can drink! Arrive any time from 5, pizza will come out around 5.30. We will be eating and tasting together as one group so be prepared to share and interact. Also, this will be a standing affair. You can reserve your spot here.
Pizza night menu as follows:
MARGHERITA tomato sauce - cheddar curds - buffalo mozzarella - parmesan
AUBERGINE tomato sauce - cheddar curds - buffalo mozzarella - roast aubergine
ANCHOVYtomato sauce - cheddar curds - anchovies
PEPPERONI tomato sauce - cheddar curds - Salsiccia del Vastese
BIANCA white base - courgettes - Redemore - parmesan
DESSERT strawberry trifle
On the pastry counter this week highlights include Strawberry Swiss Roll and the return of the Bee Sting cake, based on the German Bienenstich that Kate tried on her summer holiday last year, a layer of yeasted dough is split and filled with a vanilla spiked diplomat cream and topped with a caramelized honey-almond brittle. It's definitely a week for cream lovers as there will also be some pots of Valentina's Strawberry Trifle available on Sunday.
Finally a shameless plug (not that they need it) for the new Arbequina restaurant in the Covered Market. A crew from the bakery were there for the opening on Friday and it was absolutely buzzing. Huge congratulations to Ben, Ben and Rufus.
That's all for now, thank you for reading and we hope to see you soon,
Hugo and Kate
