6th April 2025 Pizza night returns this Thursday


Good afternoon everyone,

What a joy to feel the warmth of the sun, it's certainly put a spring in our step. So much so that we've decided, somewhat on the spur of the moment, to do a pizza night this Thursday, 10th April, from 5pm to 7pm. These evenings were once a regular occurrence, but what with one thing and another it's been more than two years since the last one, so we're really excited to dust off our pizza peels and sling some pies. The full menu will be released soon, but in the meantime you can order your pizzas now and choose your toppings on the night when you come to collect. There will be meat and vegetarian options available and we can also cater for vegans. All pizzas will be for take away but we will put some benches and chairs out on the forecourt. Drinks will be available while you wait or to take away and with a bit of luck we'll rustle up a desert as well.

On the pastry counter there will be Easter biscuits available to buy individually or in bags. These pale, buttery shortbreads studded with currants and flavoured with warm spices and lemon zest are a firm favourite of Hugo's, recalling as they do the nostalgic pleasure of the McVities Fruit Shortcake. We don't often mention the sandwiches but we particularly enjoyed the combination of whipped Westcombe ricotta, wild garlic foraged by Harrison of Worthy Earth, and the delicately smoked, cured beef, known as Carne Salata, from the Ham & Cheese Company, so we're making them this week, too.
