Olive oils from La Scarpetta, Le Marche

Mignola: Cinzia’s olives trees had been abandoned for over 30 years until she took them on 5 years ago. The oldest trees in the grove, 100s of years old, are Mignola, a variety that is found in a very small area to the south and west of Ancona. The fruits are small and picked by hand early in the season, so it is very high in polyphenols. The oil is complex: on the palate artichoke, unripe banana and fresh tomato dominate while the perfume is deceptively sweet.
