The Auvergne was once one of the most productive regions in France, churning out Gamay for the bistrots of Paris. After a decline the region is now on the rise again and has become a hotbed of natural winemaking. Despite being made by an Italian, Mattia Carfagna, Le Matos is as Auvergnat as it gets - Gamay grown on volcanic soil producing a light red with terrific freshness and minerality.
