Pre-dating Eccles cakes by more than two hundred years, it is thought that the recipe for Banbury cakes was first brought back from the crusades by knights weighed down with rich spices and dried fruits.
Our Banbury cake is a traditional oval shape packed with currants and raisins, apple butter and a mixture of fragrant spices. We use our all butter puff to parcel everything up and then finish with a crunchy sugar top.
